Screening dates for the SEVENTH ANNUAL 90-Second Newbery Film Festival, 2018!

Do you like the 90-Second Newbery? Do you want us to continue into next year and beyond? Please consider making a tax-deductible donation. We are under the nonprofit fiscal sponsorship of Fractured Atlas.

It’s that time of year! Get ready for the 90-Second Newbery Film Festival tour of 2018.

This year we’ll screen our film festival in FOURTEEN cities, from New York to San Francisco, from Chicago to San Antonio! And we’ve added three new cities this year: Salt Lake City and Ogden in Utah, and Lansing in Michigan.

If you’ve ever been to one of our screenings, you know they’re raucous fun. I usually co-host it with a local children’s author, and we usually do a ridiculous song-and-dance skit at the beginning. Here’s what it looked like last year when I co-hosted with authors Keir Graff and that year’s Newbery Medal winner, Kelly Barnhill!

Complete showtimes and locations below. Thanks especially to my co-hosts this year: authors M.T. Anderson, Katherine Catmull, Michael Northrop, Keir Graff, Pete Hautman, Aaron Zenz, Matt Krueger, Dale Basye, Marcus Ewert, and Doug Mackey.

(Wait, what is the 90-Second Newbery? It’s an annual video contest I founded in 2011, in which kid filmmakers create movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery-winning books in about 90 seconds. Complete information about the 90-Second Newbery here.)

Here are the screening dates for 2018. Reservations are free, but if you’re planning to go, you should move quick—these events tend to sell out! Links to the reservations pages below.
