90-Second Newbery Film Festival in NYC was a blast!

November 7, 2011

The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival at the New York Public Library on Saturday went better than I could’ve possibly hoped! We had to turn people away! I’m still in New York now, and I won’t be able to blog properly about it until Wednesday, so those interested should head over to Betsy Bird’s comprehensive recap of the event, complete with shocking pictures and lurid video.

You can also read Monica Edinger’s glowing review here.

Thanks especially to Betsy for pulling this off with me. Couldn’t have done it without her. Thanks also to my hilarious co-host Jon Scieszka; Newbery Medal winner Rebecca Stead for making a special featured appearance; live 90-second Newbery troubadour Ayun Halliday and her protegees India and Milo; the musical stylings of Writopia; and all the filmmakers who contributed films, and attended the screening in person!

I will write up something longer, with more pictures, later. Until then, thanks so much, and see you at the 90-Second Newbery Film Festival in Chicago, November 16!

Seriously, go check out Betsy’s report of the screening. It’s pretty much definitive.

And remember: it’s not too early to start working on your films for NEXT year’s 90-Second Newbery Film Festival!
